LAKE MANYARA NATIONAL PARK

NORTHERN CIRCUIT

Overview

Nestled at the base of the Great Rift Valley escarpment, Lake Manyara National Park is a compact yet ecologically rich jewel of Tanzania’s Northern Safari Circuit. Spanning approximately 330 square kilometers—two-thirds of which is covered by its namesake alkaline lake—this park is a vibrant tapestry of lush groundwater forests, open savannahs, and swaying acacia woodlands.

Lake Manyara offers a unique safari experience, famed for its diverse birdlife, tree-climbing lions, and breathtaking scenery. Its varied ecosystems support an incredible range of species, making it a perfect introduction or relaxing finale to a longer Northern Circuit safari that includes the Serengeti and Ngorongoro. Easily accessible from Arusha, this park delivers big wildlife experiences in a smaller, more intimate setting.
