Nyerere National Park

Formerly part of the vast Selous Game Reserve, Nyerere National Park is now Africa’s largest stand-alone national park and a sanctuary for those seeking raw, uncrowded wilderness. Covering over 30,000 square kilometers, it boasts a diverse landscape of miombo woodlands, open plains, riverine forests, and winding waterways of the mighty Rufiji River.

This eco-rich region supports high densities of elephants, wild dogs, hippos, crocodiles, and an incredible array of birds. Nyerere is perfect for travelers looking for an authentic and off-the-beaten-path safari, with activities like boat safaris and walking safaris enhancing its unique appeal.

Ruaha National Park

Ruaha National Park is Tanzania’s best-kept safari secret—an expansive and dramatic wilderness that promises solitude, exclusivity, and unforgettable wildlife encounters. Encompassing over 20,000 square kilometers, Ruaha is home to Tanzania’s largest population of elephants and a high concentration of predators, including lions, leopards, and cheetahs.

The landscape is marked by ancient baobab trees, rocky hills, and the life-giving Great Ruaha River. Its remote nature makes it ideal for seasoned safari-goers and conservation-minded travelers who seek both adventure and tranquility in the heart of Africa.

Mikumi National Park

Often referred to as a “mini Serengeti,” Mikumi National Park is the most accessible park in Southern Tanzania, located just a few hours’ drive from Dar es Salaam. It offers sweeping savannahs, golden grasslands, and a variety of habitats that support a broad spectrum of wildlife, including giraffes, buffaloes, lions, zebras, and elands.

The open Mkata floodplain is especially renowned for excellent game viewing. Mikumi is ideal for short safaris, family trips, or as a starting point for longer southern circuit adventures, delivering quality wildlife experiences without the crowds.
